Using The Present Moment Wisely Means To Discover How It Arose

The aphorism everything happens for a reason has been repeated ad nauseam; naturally occurring events are out of human control, yet, majority of life’s happenings revolve around interpretation and action. Disingenuous representation of the reason has declined cognizance of it being personally defined, it is the individual who finds him or herself in a situation and must conceptualise why.

Being at the forefront of time, we have the required information to examine previous epochs and establish how humans have progressed to the point of civilization today. Major events throughout history are easily identifiable as their influence on humanity is obvious, yet, how has inaction impacted on the human chronicle? The methods used to explore history can also be transferred into an objective observation of our own existence, people can discover everything they’ve encountered or avoided has equated to their present state.

Civilization: Action And Inaction

It’s an intriguing investigation to audit civilization and fathom how diverse events have influenced the progression of society. Different parts of the globe have had contrary development generating alternative views of the human experience, what a region is exposed gauging their understanding of life. Exploring history periods of great change can be identified; early defining factors such as the progression of people out of Africa and into the Middle East, the development of agriculture and conceptualization of deities have all played instrumental roles in cultivating humanity.

In more recent times civilization has advanced into modernity; the introduction of the media turning local scribes into prevalent pontificators of information, industrial expansion reshaping cities and homes, the aeroplane uniting humans physically and the Internet connecting people intangibly.

War has been constant throughout human history; all preceding eras have had some degree of conflict with the direction of humanity seesawing on the outcome of battles. In war what one elects not to do is just as critical as what they choose to do; this is no more evident than in Stanislav Petrov’s case. In 1983 the CCCP Air Defence Forces Lieutenant Colonel received intel of projectiles incoming from the U.S. Instead of acting as his training had taught he defied orders, backing his intuition of a false alarm and electing not return fire. Stanislav’s intuition was correct and his inaction saved the world from being plummeted into a full-scale nuclear war, and possibly a post-apocalyptic world.

History also exhibits the most depraved incidences of humanity. People tend to often under examined these events due to sensitivity, however, there is so much to be learnt from delving deep into the darker side of the human psyche. In being able to comprehend what humans are capable of there is better understanding of the human condition.

Exposure To Experience

We can examine how our disposition has been moulded through observing our previous experiences. Introspective exploration allows sight of the influencers of development; an incident in childhood, a chance meeting, the taking of an opportunity, everything we encounter will shape our current position.

If one is able to see how past events have influenced them they can begin to configure action for potential forthcoming occurrences. Although not all incidences can be controlled the judgement placed upon them can, how one deals with different scenarios will become the knowledge needed for future advancement. It’s advisable to not fill with conceit when events fall in favour and be disgruntled when they don’t, it’s best to accept the outcome, learn from the experience and see how similar consequences can be ensured or avoided.

People must be willing to take ownership of their existence by accepting responsibility for it; more is learnt in failure than success, it’s not always about the result but one’s behaviour during the process. For propitious progression a plan is needed, without knowing which direction to head the chances of pursuing the wrong direction increase.

To reach goals it’s auspicious to visualize what the attainment would be like, but understand events never play out exactly how we imagine. Observing the ideal outcome one can look back to see where they currently stand, then implement incremental steps to draw themselves closer to fulfilling their quest.

Nothing can come from nothing, to discover how outcomes manifest its possible to trace the progression backwards and uncover the lineage. History offers a snapshot of the past, seeing the residual effects from previous eras can improve understanding of how society’s structure exists today. An individual is the expression of their experiences and intuition, if one endeavours to better understand themselves its auspicious to begin by looking back.
